Thankful

Thanksgiving. We all know it. Time for family, food, and frantic preparations. Dashing from store to store to ensure you aren't the one missing out that traditional stuffing mix you grab every year. Racing to nab the perfect Butterball turkey. Sprinting to assemble the ingredients to get in the checkout line before you no longer know where the line ends. All for the sake of making the "perfect" holiday for those you love, for one evening.

When do you take the moment to sit back and become grateful that you are able to do this rushing around and preparing? Does it cross your mind? I can honestly say I have been guilty of dismissing these thoughts.

There are those in this world who don't get these chances. Heck, the chance to even be with loved ones on any day of the week might not be possible for some.

You see, it's wonderful that we are given a day to reflect, prepare, and give thanks. Yet, it's one day out of 365. Imagine what would happen if we took this concept and implemented it into the other 364. What I am saying is, take the breaks when they are needed and can be afforded. Be grateful not just for the things and people in your life, but be grateful for what you are capable of. Reflect on your own strengths and how far you have come in a year. Remind yourself of your own abilities. The ability to say no when something becomes too much, weighing you down. The ability to say yes to a new adventure or opportunity. The ability to adapt no matter the circumstances.

Bottom line...be selfish in your gratefulness.

I am grateful for my strength. I am grateful for my perseverance. I am grateful for my optimism.

Happy Thanksgiving 2023!

I am grateful for you.

With hope,

Anndi
